DJESSOU MAMA DIABATE

about

Djessou Mama Diabaté grew up in Guinea, immersed in the stories and melodies of the Mandinka heritage, which she carries on today with rare intensity. Her powerful, enveloping voice does more than just sing—it conveys: each song becomes a fragment of history delivered with calm and precision. This artistic rigor recently led her to a memorable collaboration with guitarist and producer Moh! Kouyaté. On stage, she transforms the Mandinka heritage into a living, embodied moment, where every silence matters just as much as every note.

KOROYA - New album 2026

In November 2026, her next album KOROYA will be released, the result of her collaboration with Moh! Kouyaté as producer. The album takes its title from a Mandinka word that refers to wisdom gained over time. Three instruments provide a subtle accompaniment—the guitar, the kora, and the cello—weaving a tapestry around her voice that is at times rhythmic and at times gentle. Far from being a mere reinterpretation of the traditional repertoire, this project explores the guiding principles that help us navigate life, bridging Guinean heritage with a vision of the future. It is a work conceived as a bridge between generations.
