ABOUT
Born in Normandy, Ludivine Issambourg is a French flautist, composer, and producer. Trained in both classical and jazz music, she has developed a refined technique and a broad musical culture. Winner of the first national jazz flute competition chaired by Magic Malik, she collaborated with Wax Tailor on a world tour and award-winning albums, and recorded with UHT and the British group A State of Mind. Her musical universe blends jazz, electro, and hip-hop, with a modern and poetic touch.
With her new album Above The Laws (on Heavenly Sweetness), she has brought together a five-star lineup of directors, musicians, and exceptional guest artists, delivering a highly anticipated follow-up to Outlaws, released in 2020 to the praise of legendary American flautist Hubert Laws, whose jazz-funk work she reinterpreted. She continues this tribute by blending covers and original compositions, expanding it to other major influences such as Gil Scott-Heron, Brian Jackson, Nils Landgren, Bluey from Incognito, as well as other flautists who have greatly influenced her, including Jeremy Steig, Bobbi Humphrey, and Dave Valentin.
