Cotonete, “the best French jazzfunk band of the 70s born in the 21st century”.
Cotonete is a septet of variable musical geometry, founded in 2005. Its members combine their repertoires and influences to produce an ebullient yet elegant result, a fusion of disco-style seventies funk and classy Brazilian jazz funk. Funky brass and wind, 70′s Rhodes and Clavinet, a profusion of Wah Wah guitar and a bass/drum rhythm as effective as Bertrand Blier’s dialogue.
Cotonete is where the groove of Herbie Hancock, Deodato, Donald Bird, Patrice Ruschen, Azymuth and the JB’s meets the French art de vivre, where you take the time to make and enjoy local products with timeless flavors. And when it comes to playing: a Cotonete live show is like a dancefloor on fire with the calorific improvisations of seven groove rascals.
